  • A naturalist Aligoté from a biodynamically farmed 50 yo parcel. Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, vinified without any SO2, bottled unfined and unfiltered. 12% alcohol. The bottle has no vintage designation, only the lot number "LLPYP15", suggesting this is 2015 vintage.

Pale and slightly hazy whitish-green color. A fresh and reductively Burgundian nose with attractive aromas of gunpowder smoke, some zesty citrus fruits, a little bit of tart green apples, light flinty notes, a sappy hint of fresh herbs and a touch of grapefruit pith. The wine is crisp, lively and somewhat leesy on the palate with a medium body and bright flavors of golden apples, some reductive gunpowder and flint smoke, a little bit of nail polish VA, light peachy tones, bitter hints of pomelo and apple peel and a slightest touch of sharp acetic character. The wine is quite high in acidity and the sharpness from the acetic character boosts the sense of structure here. The finish is long, lively and acid-driven with flavors of pomelo-driven pithy citrus frutis, some apple peel bitterness, a little bit of leesy creaminess, light nail polish notes of VA, a flinty hint of smoke and a touch of acetic roughness.

A surprisingly fresh, poised and focused Aligoté that manages to combine classic, slightly reductive Burgundian qualities to more funky naturalist notes. There overall feel is quite ripe, but at the same time the wine still remains very fresh, high in acidity and low in alcohol. Fine and very enjoyable stuff, although I would've loved the wine even more had it shown a bit less VA; the nail polish qualities I didn't mind much, but I'm not fan of that sharp acetic roughness.

  • Slightly yeasty nose with just a hint of funk; delightfully fresh and relaxed style, lovely lemon fruit, riper and not as acidic as many others; finishes on a note of aromatic green herbs, very good length. At wine bar 4850, Amsterdam, NL.

  • For a aligote very high intensity of aromas. Nose is clean with citrus, peaches, lemon curd, some minerality and a touch of oak. Wine is harmonious and actually pretty long. Certainly much better than most aligotes out there though bit more expensive. (not Leroy expensive)
What I find remarkable is the sense of ripenes this wine has with only 12% alcohol.
