Very solid, but pretty young; this is ripe and rich for Eyrie, but still has good balance. The dark berry fruits and spice are alongside floral notes and the concentration is very good. I think this will be better in 5+ years.

The light tannins and dust (minerals?) completely mask the even lighter notes of strawberries. Nice balance and acidity, and a saline palate. While I applaud the very light-handed extraction, I also think that the fruit needs more clarity.

Tasted at the winery. Classic Burgundian colour. Restrained nose, showing some spiciness and herby. Dry, lovely rich fruit, earthy, complex and long. Tannins still quite evident, chewy. Excellent wine, but needs more time.

Well crafted and balanced wine that could use a few more years to start to come into it’s own, a couple of decades to grow up.

Fine Vines Fall 2018 Portfolio Tasting (City Winery - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Not my favorite of the lineup, this is riper and richer, but nowhere near the complexity or textural nuance. I can see others enjoying this wine more than I would.
