Cigar box cedar on the nose. Lots of sediment, and a medium length finish. The palate showed secondary notes of tobacco and spice. I liked it, but it is not for everyone. Slight bricking on the color. I don't think it is going to get any better. The last bottle has notes of soy sauce. This one didn't. At this point, I'm sure there is some bottle variation.

Three hour decant on this one. The color from above was dark purple with some ruby translucence and from below some bricking and orange character. On the initial nose, dates, almonds, persimmons, raisins, some sandalwood and ash. On the palate dried figs, prunes, raisinettes, black berries, sandalwood and gravel. The finish was smooth with blackberries, stewed prunes, raisins and some black mint. Recommend a good 48 hour Private Preserve descant and Good filtration.

Initially a wonderful bouquet of cherry and rose. Finely balanced tannins and acid... But over an hour lost its fruity nose and tannins became much larger. That bottle was at the end of its life, it seems.
