Hot, wet barnyard funk upon opening sent me back to check the cork to see if it was flawed. Although the cork was fine, the wine itself left much to be desired. Dark purple color and intense, hot funk was accompanied by traces of sediment on the glass and a background flavor of cedar that was oddly out of place as though the barrel had begun to break down. Flavor had a musky, plum wine backbone and an odd acidic finish. We decanted this and returned to try again 2 hours later. The wet, hot funk had dissipated noticeably, but was still prominent in the background. Some berry and spice was able to come forward but not enough to rescue this bottle. By 3 hours it was housebroken, but not nearly worth the time and effort. I do not care for plum-based wines, so given the funky plum foundation I'll pass on any future buys. I strongly recommend a 2-3 hour decant if you have any of this.

Plum and berry flavors with 'delicate' mouthfeel and decent tannins. Some acidity coming in for the final finish that wasn't all that fantastic. Improved with food (pepper-crusted beef tenderloin), but this wine isn't changing my life.

Very bold and fruity. Better with some air for a while.

Noticable plum and ripe cherry. Typical f-bomb from Clare. Medium finish.
