  • Unctuous on the palate, this smells of bacon fat and beef drippings. Black raspberry compote and black figs on the palate with a hint of lavender in the finish. This is a three-course meal in a glass. So complete. So delicious. The tannins sneak up on the back end; so this might be worth revisiting in five years. Drink now to 2033. Outstanding.

  • Some smoked meat, sweet fig paste with definite residual sugar and high alcohol. Some nice mineral effect from the oak, which seems to have receded a bit. This is pretty much a dessert wine in my range now, but kind of like a summer blockbuster movie. Action packed, fun to consume, not a ton of depth or substance.

  • Serviced blind. Very dark color. Vibrant purple fruit with a strong pepper note. Very intense and with a hint of roasted animal fat and game suggesting Cornas. Quite persistent. Favoring a 2015. Palate a bit cloying upon further thought. Went great with burgers.

  • Decanted about three hours prior to dinner. Dark fruit on the nose and palate, but otherwise not showing much of anything. This was the first of the No. 5, but also the first Andremily that I've ever opened that wasn't exploding out of the bottle. Rebottled the remaining wine and left it until day two. Significant improvement on day two, but still no pepper notes or other Syrah indicators. Perhaps some bottle variation here, but I won't touch another bottle for 3-5 years.

  • Just an epic hedonistic white pepper explosion of fruit and acidity. Astonishing mouth feel and length I have never said this before, and with all apologies, but disregard any rating less than 95 points. It will be from Napa cab lovers that can’t get their head around a wine like this.
