This medium ruby wine was uncorked, poured and serially tasted over the ensuing 2-3 hours. After the first hour, it fully opens to reveal an aromatic array of Montmorency cherries, red currants, baking spices, smoke and orange zest. Medium-bodied, tart, softly oaked and with unnoticeable alcohol (listed as 12.5%), it delivers flavors that mirror the nose, wrapping them with lightweight tannins that carry just enough grip to keep things interesting. Solid on the mid-palate and medium in length on the back end, this is a delightful Pinot that (for anything from Burgundy) performs well above its pay grade. It should be at its best over the next 3-4 years. Drink now-2025.

Decanted. Upon opening, nice, almost seamless aromas of flowers, baking spices, a bit of green stems, mixed w just just ripe red cherries. Nice palate of red and black cherries, some herbs, bark, a bit of earth and mild tannins. Juicy acids on a medium bodied frame. Nice concentration of flavors. Starting to shut down 10 min after pour. Now 2h after decant. Lovely, elegant aromas of ripe cherries, bark, baking spices, and a bit of earth. Palate w seamless black cherries, baking spices, bark, earth. Mild tannins on midpalate w juicy acids. Medium-full bodied. Nice, moderately long finish w just a bit of heat. Definitely punches above it's bourgogne status and the mildly hot finish detracts a bit. But otherwise, really enjoyable. 90+

Lovely wine that punches well above its humble Bourgogne rouge status. Purity of ripe tart cherries, juicy acid, dried flowers, and a hint of nutmeg spice. Just a whiff of herbaceousness (partial whole cluster perhaps?). Pleasant chalky minerals and fine tannins. A bit short on the finish but otherwise high village or 1er cru quality.

Marianna swears on the first sniff. Bright and a bit tight still, but just opened.
