  • Friday late night at home with neighbourhood friends. Tasted blind. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is cloudy, yellow gold colour. Legs.
Nose pronounced intensity, with aromas of citrus lemon curd, golden peach, honey drizzle, toasty roasted nuts. Developing.
On the palate, dry, lovely high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%) medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of honey drizzle, citrus lemon curd, golden peach, yellow apple skins, wild minerality with many different stones, bit of sour ferment juice. Long textured finish.
Wow very very good quality. I like this white. A masterful Savagnin. Can age.

  • Beautiful bouquet with white and yellow fruits and well dosed oak. On the palate beautiful and elegant, full bodied and firm acidity, some bitterness and oak. Not an enormous length.

  • I did my research here before drinking this wine and I am impressed and pleased how reviews are consistent here with this one. Striking acidity, green apples, a lighter touch of honey vs. his other wines / vintages. After being amazed by the 2016, I find the 2015 way less balanced and less complex, which I did not expect 2015 being a more complete vintage and 2016 being a cooler one. This still carries high acidity. It's a great wine, don't get me wrong, but I expected more from this wine given the vintage. I would still drink this again though, very happily :)

  • Old vine savagnin from the master. This had not a trace of alcohol that seems to be the case with other producers working with this varietal. Golden apples, a touch of honey. A bit lacking in terms of depth that I enjoy with the chardonnay offerings.

  • So complex and yet still delicious and drinkable. Maybe not as lively and elegant as some of the cooler vintages, but there is so much going on here.
