This was very closed in the first night with overly aggressive tannins and acid. The second day it opened up a lot and was better integrated with grippy tannins, blackberry, red currants, and a bit of garrigue. The second night it was quite enjoyable so definitely decant this.

Dark ruby, pretty much opaque. The nose is surprisingly muted, both on initial pour and after 24 hours. Cherry cola comes to mind initially; later, the sweetie has turned to blackcurrant juicy fruit gum. Not a bad thing! I'm guessing it's the combination of very ripe fruit and sweet vanilla oak that gives that result. There's no reticence on the palate: it's big, sweetish, smooth, long, and well balanced - if you like what is basically a Californian style (excuse the generalisation.) A hint of mint joins the blackcurrant fruit. It's a bit ponderous for me to choose very often, but of it's kind it's very good, and not badly priced. 14%, cork.

Pretty decent pandp. Ready to drink, nothing complex but nothing out of balance either. This is a wine you can grab on a Thursday night after a bad day and not have to think too much about it.
