  • 2017 Red burgundies continue to charm. This one had a little more tertiary development than expected. Aromatic and red fruited with a little tea notes. Masculine, somewhat rustic tannins, this was not nearly as dense or polished as the 15 Fourrier GC last week. I would hold the bottle for another two years.

  • Dark red fruit and black currant. Lots of soil, mouth coating, quite good length. Pleasant stuff, accessible right now, but can go on for years.

  • Beautiful Gevrey-earth, followed by sweet wild strawberry, and loads of savory herbs. On the palate, fantastic acidity, with high-toned red fruit: ripe wild strawberry and sweet rainier cherry. Fantastic density, with white pepper and finely grained tannin on the finish, which shows rosewater and sweet strawberry. An utterly fantastic young bottle of Gevrey. That being said, this barely holds a candle to the Lavaut or the Mazy, which were transfixing.

Day 3: Open, unrefrigerated on the counter since the start. Wow, this is just an absolutely stunning btl of wine. The aromatics alone make it worthwhile, but everything is still in place. A long life ahead of this one!!!!
