Ripe red fruit is the dominating factor here. Clearly distinct from the "17" Gioia del Colle by the same producer. I should find out where their designations, which are numbers apparently not linked to vintages, come from. Lovely red fruit just a tad on the mature side, but still with plenty of acidity. It's not overly complex, but the wealth of fruit is just outstanding, resulting in a friendly, joyful freshness. A bit of peppery spice towards the end does give a modest extra. The winemaker evidently aimed at creating a different wine from the usual, black fruity Gioia del Colle and succeeded very well.
