  • This was the last bottle and the best. Quite burgundian and such a wonderful bouquet that it will linger in one’s mind for quite sometime. Still tannic and possessing good acidity.

Drink now to 4+ years but do yourself a favour, decant at least 3 hours before consumption.

  • Certainly in its final throes but still very drinkable but only for lovers of aged wine.

Brown colour with dark orange edges, the nose was very funky and barnyard but blew away after an hour in the decanter. Rose and dried herbs / lavender dominated the nose. Body was quite Burgundian like (highly enjoyable) in terms of texture accompanied by chocolate, thymes, black pepper and some candied red fruits. Tannin is no longer an issue at this age. A dry finish.

    Drink now to 4+ years.

  • Another " orphan" bottle from a long ago purchase...
On nose: tart hazelnut skin, and dried roses....
On palate: follow through of above notes amplified, surprisingly lively secondary notes as well: rhubarb, black pepper, fennel, cranberry and sage.....after the 1 hour decant, fresher notes of rose and a ghost of pipe tobacco.
At 23 years of age , perfectly mature, with soft tannins, and present acidity....but , drink up if you have any , no point holding this any longer.....medium garnet in glass with orange rim....provenance is all....this must have sat gathering dust for a decade, in my cool cellar.....played well with Pork tenderloin, and roast potatoes.

  • At kinda of a halfway development stage - tannins and acid are still super high, but the flavors seem almost dead. Lot of tertiary development both on the nose and the palate. There is solid complexity to this, but it remains quite one-dimensional during the whole drinking experience. I wouldn’t say that this will show any further development except the softening of tannis, so drink up if you have it cellared.

  • Cellaraid - Giuseppe Cortese Barbaresco Vertical; 5/15/2020-5/24/2020 (Delivered to Home): Pale garnet, with significantly fading orange edges, and rather viscous. Somewhat subtle nose, but a complex bouquet of dried cranberry, slightly honeyed, lavender, nutmeg, twigs, mushrooms, and even somewhat dusty. Burnish alcohol, tight tannins, giving a somewhat big peppery hit, then sweet candied cranberry, a ubiquitous tomato thyme Italian feel, and even basil, then a bit chocolatey. Backpalate is filled with dried fruits and herbs, and a pretty long finish. Nice!
