This was as darkly profiled and brooding of a 17 as I’ve had so far. Marked by pen ink with some VA on the nose, it also carried some tar and blackberry. Among the least red-fruited or charming 17s I’ve had, instead it’s a little too serious. Structurally, it clearly needed a few more years. My advice would be to hold and hope for less VA.
