  • Weird, but probably not defective, with an initial aroma of swimming pool, which fortunately weathered away. With it gone, we have a rather light wine, somewhat saline but mostly driven by tart red berries (Bierzo meets Bourgogne?). I probably treated this wine very badly by pop-and-pour - I'd recommend holding this one, or giving it plentiful airing (the dregs in the bottle the day after had far more power). Not bad but the kicks it gives me can be easily had in Beaujolais at half the price.

  • This is my first bottle of Perez Mencia. For some reason, when I was tasting this I kept thinking "if there was a Grand Cru BoJo, it probably wouldn't taste far from this."
Medium body, medium (but latent) acidity, slightly bretty. Medium-light heat. Reminds me of a refined Bojo without the metallic finish.
