Community Tasting Notes (3) Avg Score: 88 points

  • First day still fruits like plums and cherries. Second day a little pleasant barnyard noticeable in the bouquet and still plums, some chocolate as well. On the palate the same impressions and also some spiciness. Soft tannin and a good balance between sweetness and acidity. Although fully mature, the tannin has still a pleasant bite. Drink from now until the end of 2013 is my guess.

  • Kirsch, wood smoke, garrigue, cellar floor. Still somewhat primary; hints of Asian spice after some air time indicates this likely has some development yet in store. Much better than the 2004 Font Sane tasted recently (at same price). I expect the score will go up once this wine leaves its adolescent closed phase in the next year or two; I'll rate this 89+.

  • The initial shock was of spice, but quickly the sweet black fruit took over my palate. Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, vanilla, cedar. Moderately tannic, decent acidity, some barrel spice, but the finish fades a touch faster than it should. Lacks verve and typicality, e.g. there's neither blood nor meat here.
