  • Light to medium ruby in appearance with some legs. On the nose soft strawberry jam, lush raspberries backed with a waft of balsamic white pepper. Mouthfeel is soft with polished tannins giving an impression this is almost of-dry. Fresh acidity, good structure. Flavour intensity not overpowering, fresh and elegant, fruit forward style, with some white pepper, hints of liquorice and minerality adding layers of complexity. Oak ageing adding richness & softness. Excellent.

  • Pinot Noirs (2-OR, 2-RRV, & 2-Sonoma Coast) (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): “Fruit source: West 777 & the Steep Slope plots, harvested 10/7/17 @ 23.3° Brix; All the fruit was hand sorted & destemmed without crushing. After a 3-day cold soak, the fermenters warmed naturally & were gently pumped over 1x/day @ the onset of fermentation. After the fermentations had reached peak temps (78-84° F), the new wine was aerated 1x/day & pressed @ dryness. After settling for 1 wk in tank, the wine was racked to FR oak barrels (30% new) where it aged for 10 mos. 13.3% ABV, 6.2 gr/liter T.A., & 3.45 pH; 492 cases produced & bottled unfined, 8/8/18.”

N: Vanilla atop RIPE frt (plums?)

P: LM body; RNDISH entry with very NICE, ALMOST swtish frt (approaching threshold R.S.?) met by an astringent pucker met by an astringent pucker which stays in contact with the init frt as it fairly seamlessly morphs into a LONG, balanced finish with a tangy/SWTNESS to the few, firming, rather innocuous, very, VERY fine tannins. Deserves/NEEDS through '20, then drinking through '23, poss '24? Nicely done! My EXC-; 94 pts ea WS (Fish, 11/30/19) & WE + “Editors' Choice” (Gregutt, 12/1/19) @ $42, and 92 Suckling (7/’19). [Check with this vendor if interested in their *very* COMPETITIVE price!]
