RJ's notes below nail this pretty well; iodine and balsamic feature strongly in the aromas along with cresote, tar, porcini. No fruit to speak of. Dense, almost syrupy palate, strong tannin, powerful acidity, black peppercorn. Extremely hard wine to interpret. In some respects this is quite mature as there's basically no sweetness left yet it's also nearly black in color and had structure to last another few decades. Weird stuff. 13.8% alcohol.
