Typical Leroy funk is apparent in this older village wine. While this would have been better consumed 10 years ago it still had plenty of life after receiving 20 minutes of air. Some sappy notes with a slightly sweet candy finish this was best consumed with food (I ordered the diver scallops). A trace of dirtiness though not in a bad way. A stark contrast to the Belin which was so clean. The Leroy un-fined, unfiltered and probably sloppily racked. The Belin perhaps fined and either racked or filtered. If served blind, there is no possible way one would have been able to decipher that one wine was 20 years older than the other. I do suppose though one was a mere village wine while the other a Premier Cru from a good vintage.

Pleasant enough but too acidic. (And I like acidic wines.) A poor value.
