  • Expressive youthful nose displaying perfectly ripe black fruit, crushed blackberry, a hint of licorice, espresso, strong stem, grilled meat and earth. Excellent concentration, nicely layered sweet black fruit, rich yet pure, good acidity and earthy mineral, and a medium to long sweet black fruit driven finish with a noticeable stem/green at the end. The finish clips due to dry tannins and bitterness. In 2014, I thought this will age well. Although there is generous fruit, I am not sure whether the dry tannins will resolve with time, rich and harsh at the same time.

  • This was a tough call. Had the 2006 Giroud Latricieres the night before which was totally different, of course partly from the vintage. Yet the purity and precision of the Giroud made it my wife's and my favorite. Not that this wine isn't good. I just think 93 is the best it will get - no matter how long you wait.

  • Bottle breathe for 45 minutes, and then decant for another 30 minutes. Medium and welcoming nose. Still a lots of fruit, spice at the palate, and shows some complexity. Medium finishing. Ready to drink for now, but there should be a long way to go for this little gem!

  • Much darker in colour than Bruno Clair’s 2002 Chambertin Clos de Beze tasted alongside. Glossy core with hints of discolouration around the edges. Expressive and very attractive nose, dark fruit mostly, spices, earth, minerality. On the palate more restrained - powerful tannins, lots of fruit underneath, good acidity. Long and intense finish. Well balanced, but needs time. 92-93+

  • Still very austere, stringent, dry. One of our group even questioned if this was corked initially, but it slowly opened a bit. Potentially higher score over time if it shakes off the tannin & structure and lets the fruit shine a little
