  • Nearly black with a magenta edge. Blueberry pie, baking spices, and leather nose. Full bodied, plums, blackberries, a touch of pepper, dust, eucalyptus, perfectly integrated fine-grained tannins, cedar, tobacco, and a long spicy black cherry finish. Excellent.

  • A deep, inky, blue black lines the glass as this pours. I settle in for what promises to be an interesting evening. The palate is all about complexity of flavors and complexity of mouthfeel. Smoke, smoked meats, herbs (of thyme, rosemary and lavender), blackberry, mineral, some slight brown sugar and sweet tobo weave a delight to the senses. Each flavor is distinct, but moves seamlessly from one to the other. The flavors are long. The mouthfeel is rich, but not at all fat with the fruit and acid very much in balance. The tannins are round. The finish is polished and with a length that gives you pause to stop and appreciate each sip. Some slight sediment lines the bottle with a bit more precipitating out. 15.4% alc. With steak (beef) Diana and popovers with a port reduction sauce. May 14, 2011. Highly Recommended. Thanks, Brad.

  • An amazing Californian Syrah!
Licorice, plum, red currant. Powerful with lots of glycerin, but very complex and ever changing wine. Even with huge 15%+ alcohol, this is aging well and still a baby. There is excellent balance here and massive power.

  • Blackberry and baking spices with cedar and pepper on the nose. A plush mouthful of blackberry and cassis, finishing chewy and nicely tannic with blueberry and chocolate notes. An outstanding wine.

  • Popped and poured. Inky dark purple. Straight out of the bottle this still had lots of alcoholic heat jumping off of it, so much so that it was hard to get a handle on the rest of the components. Took over an hour for it to pull back together. When it did, this had chewy berry flavors with a good bit of smoke and earthiness to it, still rather primary. Would give it time or a lengthy decant.
