Burgundy WIMPS 2022 (La Trompette, Chiswick): This is a joy. It opens with some icing sugar dusted blueberries on the nose. There is a little almondy sweetness almost in the Bakewell Tart spectrum and something spicy, someone suggests star anise – they’re bang on. The oak is well done and on the modern side but not OTT or particularly new worldy. With some air a grated dark milk chocolate note emerges with a little coconot from that oak. After an hour in the glass there is something ever so slightly resinous. Pine nuts ? A little strawberry bon-bon too. Fab.

Happily, this the last of my 6 bottles, was clearly the best. Complex, supple and very long on the palate, this wine drank like a Grand Cru and is a lovely testament to the outstanding winemaking of the late Denis Mortet.

- Garnet color and aromas of black currant and has flavours of black currant, blackberry and mushroom with a medium/full body. Linear texture with a long finish - Wonderful stuff. It might get better, but it'll be hard to keep my hands off the last one I have.

This bottle was similar to the 2/18/15 bottle but was at the end of its peak drinking period.
