  • Still alive but just about. Bottle in very good condition with top of cork still dry and bottom neck fill. Pnp. In the glass a somewhat cloudy garnet (due to sediment as I did not decant nor filter) with clear browning towards the rim. Soft and sweet with some sous bois notes, sweet leather, a touch of fruit but also some vegetable coming through. Held steady and did not fall completely apart during 3h in the open bottle.
Not unpleasant to sip but obviously Yon Figeac was not a great Chateau in the 70s (and arguably is not great even today), so drink up as this is on its very last leg.

  • Simple structure . Soft tannins.

  • That this was still drinkable made me very happy. 1975 is my birthyear and I bought 4 bottles of this for only 15 € each. Of course, this is not a terrific wine. It has some flaws that are clearly signs of age, but the first impression on the palate is very nice. Only the finish is not in balance – the backbone is missing. The nose is very enjoyable.
