  • A muted nose of some red fruit and some spice, medium garnet in color. A medium to full bodied red, with cherry, plum, cocoa and some spice on finish. www.winelx.com

  • I don't seek out this varietal, and have been underwhelmed by the few I've tried over the years. But this is an excellent bottle, and a terrific value. Initially ungiving, but starts to open up after an hour or so. Equal parts foxy and funky on the nose, with black raspberry and allspice leading the way on the palate, and light barnyard notes in the background. Surprisingly tannic (to me), with hints of tar lingering on the medium finish.

  • Earthy, good acid, drank easily, drank with pork schnitzel with German potato salad, perfect food pairing, fascinating wine and grape, enough fruit to kneel things interesting, would drink again, 13% ABV.

  • Bright translucent ruby crimson. Initial nose has a dusty closet smell...weird but that’s what came to my mind. This gives way to dark florals and both sweet and peppery spice elements. Palate is very stony with plum and lots of white pepper along with a bright acid, low tannin structure. This seems to me to need the right food but I am not sure what that is exactly...perhaps something breaded and fried/sautéed?? I will try it tomorrow with some left over breaded veal cutlet...A good example of the grape variety, I’ll see how it does over-night... p.s. still fairly fresh over the next 2 days, a bit more peppery. Ok with breaded veal...

  • Dark red color, slight bouquet, medium body, lots of tannin with good fruit and acid, balanced, drank with spicy Chinese lamb with veggies, not sure that the wine paired as well as I thought as the tannin clashed with the lamb somewhat, will drink again, very interesting grape, our first bottle of it.
