Starting to come around to the view that Barbera really comes into its own at about the 5 year mark. The high acid starts to soften slightly at this point - just enough to really accentuate a beautiful round sour cherry and red plum fruit profile, rich mouth-filling silky tannin, A food-friendly delight!

The comments so far are pretty spot on, though they may be understating the enjoyment factor. Simple and straightforward, we drank with a sautéed tomato and pasta dish and it did its job on a Wednesday night. Reminds me a bit of a vino della casa Barbera we drank a few years ago on a perfect night in La Morra at a restaurant that became a favorite for a couple weeks. Good flavors, lively acidity, smooth and pleasing. Not one for the cellar.

{cork, 14%} Mid garnet. Floral nose; roses, maybe some bright red fruit, and a touch of tobacco too. Vivid, slightly tart palate, more acid than mild dusty tannin. Low-key flavours, still floral here too. Very Italian in its texture. Medium weight, short/medium finish, dry and savoury. Not bad but not really worth cellaring for too long.

PnP. Didn't really evolve much in the glass; no better on day 2. Basic table wine that could benefit from more freshness and energy. Drink now. NR

It’s fine. You definitely get the 14% alcoholic heat.
