  • Once again, tannat grape claims its place in time. Right now it is a closed wine on the nose and deeply tannic on the palate. Some hints of red berries and the humidity from an old oak. Like so many classics of the denomination, its time will come but in fifteen years.

  • (7/31/20) This was my first experience with a wine made with tannat. This was made from 80% tannat and 20% cab franc. It was ruby in appearance and had a spicy and expressive nose full of red fruit and pyrazines. It was light bodied and balanced with lively acidity and a very long finish. Of course it was highly tannic, but the tannins were ripe. To me, this wine seemed a lot like a Chinon with heavy tannins; 14.5% abv. (***/15/89)
