  • Having enjoyed this new find at the winery last month I wanted to pop a bottle to share w Mrs DavidandRose. While this isn't the same wine with a two hour decant, it continues to improve w time and I suspect will be even better as tonites debate wraps up.

Nice grip on the stems. Pine cone, bramble and black plum on the nose, with a hefty whiff of eucalyptus and alcohol. Vibrant, young fruit and plenty of tannins.

At the three hour mark this is a again a completely different wine. The pinecone, eucalyptus, and alcohol have all dissipated. While the fruit has diminished, the wine is much more balanced overall. At four hours this has earned a 93 and confirmed i'll open my next bottle at 2026 or beyond.

  • Tasted at the winery from a bottle opened 1-2 days prior. I have to imagine the air served the wine well (at 1030am). As this is after-the-fact notes aren't detailed, but this is my first on-site experience w Pina and I enjoyed the wines, which are full and well-balanced. Appreciate that they're only selling this as a '16. Its got the stuffing to last until at least 2030, possibly longer by managing aeration.

  • One hour double decant. Deep dark ruby magenta color. Ripe blackberry, raspberry thumbprint cookie, pumpernickel, and subtle thyme on the nose. Very smooth, dry palate, with fine, vibrant acidity. Firm, full tannins on the medium long finish.

Very classic, fruit forward Napa Cab. Everything’s solid and engaging, but the finish could be longer and this lacks complexity. It’s a littmore acid driven at the moment. It paired nicely with my steak tartare. No complaints, but want a bit more for the $$$.
