  • When Barolo is really good, it is a wonderful and full experience. This bottle provides such an experience. Bright strawberry fruit with a bit of acid. Wonderful anise and spices. Long finish with even fruit and smooth tannins that complement a lot of foods. Beautiful wine. I may be underrating this one.

  • Opened on 4/22/11 3 hours (not decanted) before first sip. Should have decanted as wine improved through the meal. Still plenty on tannins which I suspect will mellow with some further bottle age. Still a very enjoyable Barolo with a dark color in the glass, a beautiful nose and plenty of black fruits and hints of tar and black licorice that good Barolo is known for.

  • Very nice and big Barolo -- very dry -- needed 3+ hours to decant to open up and not just be a bog ball of tannins. When it opened up it was a nice balance of the piedmont fruit (tart cherries with that dirt like taste) and great mouth feel. I think this isready to drink --do not hold too long on this one.

  • Decanted for one hour. On the nose raisin, plum and fruit cake. The palate it was full bodied with ripe flavors of dark plum, coffee and a hint of leather. Slightly spicy on the finish with well integrated tannins. Drank very well.

  • Was awfully tight. Poured off a half bottle, corked and put in fridge for 2-3 weeks. Was much better after that time. After this time still a little tight on the finish and has more to give. Nice deeper flavors on the finish with hints of tobacco and coffee. Should be quite pleasant with rich meat dishes.
