Starting to show some brown, orange color on towards the rim. Aromas of refined and elegant cherries, mint and herbs. Similarly it has red and slightly bitter cherries and tomatos on the palate. Good acidity makes it fresh and elegant. Medium length and lively tannins on the finish.

Drinking well right now. Had at a restaurant along with salmon with a corn chowder and halibut with mushrooms and a red wine reduction. Color was hard to determine at the restaurant, but did seem quite bright for a wine of this age. Beautiful nose of violets and cherries. Nice mouthfeel, good acidity, but a bit too tannic at first. After about two hours, this wine was shining. Paired wonderfully with both dishes. Can drink now with some decant time, but probably will be better in a year or two.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): Double blind tasting, brief note. Nobody thought this Nebbiolo! Bordeaux-like spice with slightly sweet fruit. Completely resolved, this was drinking smoothly and nicely in a modern style that was more pleasurable than interesting.
