Sweet sage and tobacco in the beautiful fruit driven way as opposed to the cigar ash kinda way. Cooked marmelade and dried fruits on the nose. Ripe plum.
Sweet and ripely integrated tannins. Just a baby too with those tannins.
Oh ho! IT turns out to be the 1997. And I guess the idea from the brothers was to counter any idea that high oaked Barolos can't age. And well, I guess if how theirs turns out I am in. On the other hand I have had many other producers wines not make it in the long haul...

This wine is drinking beautifully right now. The nose is deep, red fruit but really didn't do justice to the complex, rich flavor. We opened about an hour early and feel this wine is in prime time.

Popped, decanted for an hour, enjoyed over the next two hours. A beautiful bouquet poured out upon opening and didn't quit. This wonderfully balanced, complex wine was singing from the first taste and kept improving, revealing more and more nuance until the final sip. It is a beautiful deep garnet color, sweet polished tannin is nicely resolved and its elegance is maintained through the fascinating and lengthy finish.

At its peak. Mellow, aromatic and delicious. Decanted but that was not necessary.
