  • Disappointing after the bottle one year ago. Notes of maderisation, no freshness, no fruit anymore. I hope it is the bottle.

  • One bottle at Voit Restaurant in Kassel, Germany.
Chose between 2018 Künstler Chardonnay Barrique, 2018 Topf Chardonnay (which I tried), and Knipser.

Knipser Chardonnay *** is only produced in excellent vintages and vinified in used and new oak barrels.

Beautiful burgundy style Chardonnay with the right amount of oak. The palate is driven by exotic fruits (melon, pineapple), vanilla, tannins, and smoke.

    Falstaff: 91p

  • Turkey BBQ late Sep 2020: pale yellow amber color; slightly restrained in the nose with golden apples and pears aromas/flavors; fruity, juicy and gentle on the palate, balanced by a fine acidity.

Excellent Knipser Chardonnay still in development.

50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 14 + Algemeen / potentieel: 7 = 87/100

Color: Medium golden yellow, strikingly dark for a Chardonnay Aroma / bouquet: Intensely perfumed wine with notes of ripe pear, stone fruit and tropical fruit. Clear effects of wood aging in the form of vanilla and caramel. Taste / Aftertaste: When tasting the wine for the first time, the wine was actually too warm and therefore too bulky and tiring. The wine has now been opened for a few hours and cooled better. But still too unwieldy for me. For my taste, the acidity is too limited, especially in relation to the generous 'filling' and thickness of this wine. General / potential: Beautiful Chardonnay in which, however, I do not recognize the greatness of a grand cru described by WA. 50 + Color: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Taste / Finish: 14 + Overall / potential: 7 = 87/100

  • 2 hours in decanter. Deep yellow. Vibrant with intense white fruit , powerful but not dominant acids, broad and subtle at the same time. A beauty. Superb price/quality.
