Good example of a classic barbera with lively acidity, fresh black fruit (dark-, sour cherries, voilets) and a touch of green herbs/dried spice (oregano).

This is a wine of high quality and one I'll be adding to my annual buy list. I've had my share of Cascina Fontana Nebbiolo, but this is my first try of the Barbera. Highly aromatic nose of dark fruits, cedar and aniseed. Much the same on the palate; sweet and sour black and red cherries, mint and fennel and a web of firm but fine tannins. Acid levels are pitch perfect and there's good length on the finish. This carries all the hallmarks of a quality Piedmont Barbera.

Deep purple. Black cherries and damsons. Juicy tannins and lively mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Elegant with a touch of hedgerow and hint of cedar.

Still young but drinks nicely. Black fruit, herbs, nice balance and long aftertaste. Not a big wine but well made and classic style.
