Pale, light golden yellow in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of white grapefruit, citrus notes of orange peel & stone fruit with overtones of floral notes of honeysuckle, minerals, chalky & a hint of wet stone in the background. Medium-light bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, zesty, ripe fruit flavors of grapefruit, orange peel & stone fruit notes with a touch of spices, almonds, honey, minerals & hint of saline. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present & may go another year or two.

Popped and poured. Crisp aroma of stone fruit and flowers. Rich pear flavor up front, bitterness mid palate, which carries through to the apricot and orange peel finish. Slightly viscous mouth feel, firm acids, complex and mutable flavors, good staying power. Distinctive wine, incredible QPR.

Retail $18. Antao Vaz, Viosinho, Alvarinho, and others. I visited Esporão a couple of years ago now, and I remain as impressed now as I was then. Just a slight golden hue to the otherwise straw-yellow wine, with aromas of pear, white peach, and wet rock. The palate is delightful: subtle fruit, plenty of weight, balanced acidity. The traces of minerality and hints of spice on the finish add to the allure. Very nice. thedrunkencyclist.com
