  • Cayuse cabs are always something special--as well as likably disingenuous, like a sheep in wolf's clothing. Where's the JAM, Christophe?? This is very herbal, more like a weird pinot than a cab--loads of hot rocks, graphite, and a hint of leafy brightness (thyme? tarragon?). Drank with dinner, then sat on it; crushed berry compote with orange peel started to break through after an hour, along with the Cayuse funk we all know and love. I also swear to god I tasted an undertone of toasted pinecone or something--deep, dark, and sweatily, scorchingly vegetal. My wife prefers The Lovers, in all its black tea savory glory, but I think I'm ever so slightly keener on this (per the name!). I've been de-prioritizing Christophe cabs for too long, it seems.

  • Ordered direct from winery & cellared since. PNP, no decant. Would recommend at least 60 minute decant. The nose on this was completely captivating despite no decant & no funk on the nose. Great mid weight body with great soft-ish tannin at this point in its development. Great wine that needs some more time.

  • Had at a family dinner.
N currants, blueberries, tobacco, leather, violets
P blackberry, blueberries, tobacco, herbs, baker's chocolate
F long in length, great mouthfeel, and decent acidity
Still needs a long time to really show imo.
