Elements of Wine 2021 - My Class at GnG; 2/7/2021-12/31/2021 (Grapes & Grains, Temecula, CA): I quite enjoy most Carricantes. They seem to have a bit of textural weight to balance out the crisp acidity that goes with the citrus and stone fruits. Like all volcanic soiled wines, there is a bit of savory to go with the tangy minerality. Pointed out in several reviews, this would go well with salads, citrus-marinated shrimp, and white fish recipes. Also, I did pick up a bit of popcorn flavor on the front of the palate.

An ancient white wine grape variety from eastern Sicily, grows on the volcanic slopes of Mt Etna. Producer Cortese. Citric notes and minerality. A very light wine with delicate and subtle flavors, probably best drank with a salad or lightly seasoned white fish.

Very nice Sicilian white, with a subdued nose of slate, Key Lime, and a touch of smoke. Palate had more Key Lime, with apricot, peach, and hints of chalk and dry popcorn. Light in body, it is a great value, and well worth trying out.

Slate and lime on the subdued nose. Pear and yellow apple with a bit of chalk and balanced, medium acidity. Great summertime wine.
