Tasted at Clos Solene alongside the 2013 La Petite Solene, L'Insolent, Hommage a nos Pairs, and El Toro.
Hailing 100% Syrah fruit from Arroyo Grande (closer to the coast than a lot of other Paso Robles Syrah), the Cuvee Jean is reminiscent of a more cool climate Syrah from Sonoma. Notes of blueberry, cold blackberry, wet slate, and hints of black olive. A solid, packed Syrah, but currently without the layered interest of the Syrah blends Hommage a nos Pairs and La Petite Solene.
Hold a year before popping the cork on this. Should offer good drinking for at least 10 years. May merit a higher point or two in the coming years.
