  • Bright, tart, ashy, minerally and oh so vibrant. This is bottled fun.

  • Another joyous, lively bottle of this wine. Vibrantly tart cherry flavors, soaring aromatics, dusty minerals, and sprightly acidity.
    Smile inducing

  • This is a lovely, vibrant medium-bodied wine. Sure there is pomegranate, earth, dried rose petals, anise, dark fruit and a handful of other swirling and morphing aromas and flavors. Ya, there is wonderful, food-friendly acidity and a persistent finish. But most of all there is balance, life, and elegance. Drinking it makes me happy.

  • I've been in love with Nero d'Avola for the last couple of months for it's drink ability and value. This was a higher end Nero, so I had high hopes. The sales person compared it to a Burgundian Pinot Noir. I got a lot of peat and a little charcoal on the nose, but something smelled a bit off. Very dry in the mouth, but continuing with the very earthy, peat flavors. Not flavors I typically enjoy in a wine. We were unable to finish the bottle.

  • I really like the style of these wines from Ariana Occhipinti. This opens with a spice box nose, chipped rock minerals, some dark fruit, bigger structure and tannins than the delicate Frappato. This also has lively acidity and was great with food. A duck breast with sauteed mushrooms on night one was a good match and also very good with a grilled steak on the second night. The wine tasted fine even on the second day. Both wines are full of character and transparent. I think this has more aging potential than the Frappato, but the Frappato is my favorite for drinking right now. Well worth the $.
