Still too young, a tad sour and the flavours haven’t had a chance to meld yet. Would not recommend opening for a few more years, whereas the 2013 and 2016 are very drinkable now.
Not getting the sense the tannins or structure are meant for the long haul, so plan to drink 2023 to 2025. Clearly not the best 5th Element in recent history.

Agree with previous reviews here – well balanced with medium (-) acidity…not meant for the long haul. Such a contrast to their ’13…my bias is obvious.
Providing a long decant time, the nose delivers ripe black fruit, vanilla & dark chocolate aromas. The use of wood is apparent & almost imposing already.
The palate is a thick & fatty ‘boozy’ mix, carrying a chalk-like texture – giving the impression of sweetness. Big & grippy tannin - but for me, there is too much oak here.
With all the changes occurring @ this winery, it would be hard to expect the wine to stay the same. Intriguing wine IMO... but best to drink up!

It looks and smells very similar to past vintages of 5th E. There are some nice flavours of stewed cherries, but it has a peculiar bitterness to it.
