  • A quite nice final bottle, nine years in. For sure a bit aged, but all in a very good way.

  • Medium-deep brassy yellow in color. Forward, attractive, developed and complex nose of mature ripe fruit aromas of apples & pears, some citrus notes of lemons/limes & grapefruit with floral notes of honeysuckle, butterscotch/caramel/toffee ovetones, spices, some minerals, wet stones & flintiness with a touch of vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of mature & developed, viscous, balanced, complex, smooth textured, mature, ripe flavors of green apples, lemons and limes with toasted oak, butterscotch, spices, minerals and a touch of creamy vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present and is at the peak of its development if not sliding slightly downward. Drink up!

  • Peaked at 93 almost exactly a year ago? The notes are still the same, but the overall picture is now tinged with a bit of age - nice if you like it. I don't dislike it per se, but I do find it a bit distracting from the wildly fabulous picture of last year. Nonetheless, still very very good. 1 bottle to go!

And oh yes, still better with 45 minutes of air on it.

  • Something about this Rincon chardonnay makes it more than the sum of its parts. It's a very, very good Rincon chardonnay. It's not overtly fruity, and it's not overtly showy with an extravagent nose, but the fruit is good (and dark and minerally and slightly tropical) and the nose is very good, and the mouth, well, the feel in the mouth is of pure, lit liquid that just makes it come together. Seems to get better and better - wish that I had more than 2 remaining.

  • Seems to get better and better, I guess. Better than the 2006 from last night and the 2007 from earlier this evening - though the 2007 seems built - and has the stuffing to crow about. Nice fruit, with
