  • Slow-ox of about 1h. Strawberry, raspberry and rhubarb fruit, all fresh in style, coupled with perfume, fresh flowers and an intriguing touch of spice. This is all framed by earthy and slightly meaty base notes. The palate is young but well balanced with layers of depth. Chewy in a nice way. Inoffensive acidty with a soft texture. This is as big of a bang you can get for this kind if Burg buck. Outstanding.

  • Cherries, tobacco on the nose. Medium body, medium plus acidity, mild fruit- stewed cherries, strawberries, moderate mineralogy, moderate tannins. Pleasant, not outstanding.

  • Pop and pour. I expect enjoyment rather than nuanced complexity from Gevrey and this young 2017 delivered. The acid is already fuzzy velvet and the red fruit is pure and savory. Delicious.

  • After Burghound's faint praise, I figured one of us uncouth groundlings needed to weigh in from the cheap seats:

Initially- furry pinot funk and pine, mellowing into that soft ripe
strawberry I associate with Gelin's Fixin and Gevrey clos Napoleon. Medium grip tannins.
After a night on Coravin, supporting acid came more to the fore, adding a nice balance.

Super subtle-complex? No. Pleasure in the glass? Oh yes.
If swelling inventories of 18s and 19s pressure retailers to move this enjoyable 17' at a decent price, I would not hesitate to jump on a bottle or 4.
