Thursday Night 5 for $5 (The Grapevine - Pocatello, ID): Medium ruby color. Youthful, aromatic smells of turpentine and red raspberry. Light body with tart acidity and medium/high, soft tannins. Couldn't find fruit on tasting, maybe fatigued (me, not the wine). Young, astringent. Medium finish.

Washington Wine Highway (Chateau Ste. Michelle, Woodinville, WA): The nose of this wine had oak, raspberry, cherry and some earth. The palate was consistent with the nose. This was a very smooth Sangio, and would be a very easy bottle to drink with any pasta dish. Medium bodied wine with good mouthfeel, and a medium length finish that has a slightly tart edge. I'm not a huge fan of Sangios, but this one was very nice.

Opened 10yrs later. Dark cherries, leather, both strong. Good balance b/ t acid and tannin. Glad I opened it now!
