This has evolved nicely in the last eighteen months. Harsh edges now harmonious, black cherry, cured meat, and smoke. Structure enough to go at least ten more years, but I'd prefer to finish mine in the next four. Very good and great qpr

Cuvée Bargeton CDP 2018 Decanted in small decanter 60 mins Beautiful light purple color with slight orange, crystal clarity The nose and palate is a total contrast to the color of the wine. Intense ripped fruits, mainly cherries and berries, aroma of nuts, herbaceous and Chinese spices. Though the wine is still young, transition and entry is pleasant and reasonably smooth. The palate is rather complex with firm tannins, which needs time to mature and developed towards her full potential. Reasonable finishes at this age. Suggest to revisit 3-5 years later. 91-93 pts

The last 2 wines were either a disaster or disappointment. Well, what can I do in this situation. I grabbed ChdP. 32 bottles so far and I don't remember when I was disappointed last time. How about this bottle? Super trooper? Yes, it is. An hour in the decanter. First sip - high, rough acidity. First sip from second glass? Completely different animal. Powerful no doubt about it, but with great balance, harmony and structure. Let's start with the smell. A lot of smoke, tobacco, oak ( nice mix!). Mint! A lot of mint (cool!). Red cherry, sweet, sweet spices, earth. Cola and cassis. Orange peels.
Taste - red cherry, red currant, licorice, coffee (!), cocoa, black pepper. Long finish with cinnamon, plum, red cherry. Very juicy, very drinkable, very addictive. RP - 96 Vinous - 93 WS - 93 JS - 93 JD - 92

Very rich nose of ultra ripe blackberries, black cherries and mulberries, garden herbs and spice. Med-full bodied, with tangy acidity that seems out of place, this is was excellent with American Chinese food and is fine on it's own, but not a great representative of Chateauneuf. Drink now-2028+ 91
