  • Mr & Mrs Vinosapien visit FV (Falsterbo): Complex, mature nose with notes of pipe tobacco, liquorice, shoe polish, wild herbs, dark plummy fruit and vanilla oak. Rich and full-bodied taste, pretty oaky with impressive density of fruit but zero sweetness, instead chewy tannins, raw-meat minerality and fresh enough acids. Tannat has the power to integrate a hefty load of oak, and it works here. More of a drinker than a sniffer, this '99 does a great job with grilled prime rib and alsp works pretty well on its own. A bargain at release, peaking now.

  • Very exciting nose with tar and leather, salty liquorice and shoe polish. Delicious, reminds us of fine bordeaux. Dark brooding fruit in the range of black currants, plums and merlotlike dried currants. Big and powerful flavour, completely dry, with toasty oak, dark chocolate and a long, slightly bitter end. The tannins are starting to soften, even if they completely coat the palate. Seriously good wine, will match bordeaux up to three times the price. Lots of power and structure for the future. On its way to greatness.
