Finally this wine has reached the heights I was told it would when bought over 6 years ago from a very reliable source. Nose like a good Pauillac, body closer to a Saint Emillion. Compared very favourably the same evening with a '95 La Rioja Alta 904 that was purchased for three times the price. Sadly this is the last bottle of 4, it has finally shed its youthful austerity and blossomed into a star. I wish I had bought more, I wish I could find more.

Previous experience with this producer's grand vin cuvées holds: too much oak. What's new this time is the stealth brett IED artlessly lobbed inside the bottle. Impossibly tight and sour upon opening, after a while things open somewhat, but there's that insurgent brett refusing to relax its deathgrip. Neither does the oak. The regular Capmartin cuvée ("Tradition") is so much better.
