Really good. I thought it was a Moulin a Vent and was shocked to turn the label and see Vin de France. It's dark, dessicated black fruit, but not especially ripe. A little spritz blew off after an hour or so. Reminds me of some wines that I've been told are "carbonic" -- I don't really know what that means, but it has a distinctive flavor. Very concentrated and dark but not at all heavy. Great find.

11.5% - Clear, med ruby / clean, med+ intensity - red cherry, liquorice, floral lift, mineral, barnyard funk / dry, med to high refreshing acidity, low tannin, med- body, med+ intensity, med length. Vin de soif, a bit funky (in a good way) with rough edges at first and more resolved on day two. Perhaps a little too expensive for this type of wine, but would be glad to have with classic steak tartare. 89-90

Jean-François Ganevat named this cuvée «Madelon» in tribute to Madeleine Vivant (Loisy), one of his neighbors in Rotalier. She was very strong and even able to pull a calf out of her mother's womb with one hand. She died at the end of November 2019 at the age of 86. Here we have a blend of Gamay, Enfarinés & Trousseau. The juice is vinified naturally, indigenous yeasts, not fining, unfiltered and without SO2 addition. Only 11.5% abv. The color is pale ruby, which tends towards red, with a beautiful shine. On the nose, the rustic side shocks. Then the nuances appear: a little blackcurrant, a light crushed strawberries, a few rose petals… The wine really needs aeration… In the mouth, the material is so delicate, what a superb velvet caress! The body is light. My wife notices the masterful balance between sweetness, light acidity to tone up and pretty ripe fruits. Very nice persistence on bitters that wake up & on a rusticity still strongly present. It's good, nice country product! I like this stuff! Requires long aeration and should be reserved for natural wines lovers. More rustic than the «Poulprix» from the same producer. 88-90pts. [Photo on Instagram]
