  • Last of 4 bottles and this one should have been opened a few years ago. On pnp the nose was blood, dark fruit, tobacco, tar and Cali Syrah funk. First sip was loaded with rich dense fruit, chocolate, smoke and quite a bit of heat, some w/c grip and big fruit.

After 3 hours this is not getting better. The palate is flabby and the fruit is turning raisiny. A slight bitterness on the finish with fully integrated tannins. The color is still great on this wine and it has a lot of fruit but just too much of it and not enough acid to keep it balanced. Too bad because the nose is awesome. Just OTH.

  • Easter wine#4

Color: dark ruby -> deep ruby rim. Bouquet of plums, smoke, citrus (?) and strange vegetal components. Palate follows through with bizarre cooked asparagus, citrus, and concord grapey-ness elements. Something seems to have gone awry here. Too weird and after reading the CT notes I'm even more convinced this is an off bottle. Maybe cooked somewhere along the pipeline . . . . Judgement reserved.

  • Improved through the meal. On the nose and palette rich espresso and chocolate...The fruit started to arrive about an hour into the bottle and it was a lighter but more vibrant fruit than I was expecting...

  • Crazy good.Deep dark purple--glass staining--teeth and tongue stainig. Dark purple fruit, red meat and tobacco on the nose.Purple fruit, chocolate and acidity on the palate--sweet but not very--no noticeable alcohol (but this is the second night for the second half of the bottle. Really well knit.No mistaking this for anything but a great American syrah.

  • Enjoyed over two nights in a consistent way. Floral, dense purple berry on the nose with some asphalt/tar touches. There is a kick of tartness that picks up the palate behind dense, dark fruit. Some mineral and meat add complexity with enough acidity to keep it from being overbearing. Big fruited and fairly extracted but not in an overly lavish way. Damn nice for a bigger Syrah. In a good place.
