Black cherry, loam and a bit of stemmy spice on the nose. For an ‘05, this is pretty approachable though still showing Pommard rusticity and grip. Pretty Beaune red cherry fruit, accented by sandalwood spice and finishing with dry tannins. Good now, likely better in 5 years.

Had this with the '05 Deux Montilles Chaumees, and like that wine, this just didn't taste right. lean, mineral, a little cherry and rust, but lacking fruit and generosity. I firmly believe now that Burgundy does not do well in the desert. It was alright, but the climate turns these wines into lifeless sand dunes of wines.

Nose was slightly advanced, showing a hint of reduction; Palate is still quite firm, with heaps of dark fruit and licorice, with impressive length on the finish; This still has some upside and will hopefully become even more integrated with more rest

This was drinking at its peak, very balance with a nice complexity. It was a great match with a cream sauce made with blonde morel mushrooms (in season from the Northwest) with tortellini and grilled scallops.
