Just showing a little age at the rim, but I guess that's more than you might expect for a decent 6 year old wine.
Very appealing nose of fruit, coffee, chocolate. spice, all in harmony. In truth probably a little too appealing, but what the heck, taken on face value it really entices you in.
The medium bodied palate has a little more focus on the fruit (and the fruit reminds of some Portuguese reds like Bairrada), but retains much of the complexity suggested on the nose and has that appealing facet of developing/changing throughout the finish, rather than being linearly long. Acidity is refreshing enough to work with food though there's not much tannin remaining. I can see how this is seen as a short-medium term wine.
Nit picks might be a slightly sour edge to the fruit/acidity and the amount of coffee/chocolate. It might tire after a couple of glasses, but that's ok.

Wine Education Service - New Zealand: Plenty of age, just opaque. An animal nose with plenty of red fruit and spice. Fruity attack, this wine is still developing, balanced, good length.
