This was a great surprise. Decanted 2 hours before drinking, it was open for business. Great aging Bordeaux nose, lots of subtle graphite/soil amidst the fruit, plenty of finish. By 2d day, it was fading somewhat.
This is not a wine for those who prefer fruitier wines but for me it shows a perfect balance between fruit and earthiness. With a very dark ruby color, the nose boasts raw meat, bacon, leather, and mushroom. The palate opens with black currant, cherry, blackberry, ink, graphite, forest floor, black pepper, and violet and finishes with prune and licorice lingering for a while. Nice structure with low acidity, low/medium, sweet tannins, and rounded finish. Well made, well balanced, and enjoyable. You may enjoy this wine now or let it sit for a few more years.
