Right out of the glass there's graphite, flavored pipe tobacco, and a little bit of heat. Tannins are overpowering the fruit at this point, offering a mouth feel that's dry, but not parched. Peppercorn, crushed stone and muted black fruit are hiding behind the chalky tannins.
A little time has done this wonders. After 75 minutes the nose is much more balanced. The chalkiness is gone and the fruit plays a much more prominent role on the palate. While there's still a very fine tannic bite on the finish, this continues to dissipate as the two hour mark approaches.

Pop and pour. Syrupy grip on the stems.
