This is unexpected fun. On the immediate tongue, there is a momentary hint of Châteauneuf-du-Pape cherry, but then NOT! Tons of dark fruit surronded by cassis, coriander, leather, fennel, sage, basil, and mineral stones. This is a superbly structured Rhone classe; dry, big dark fruit, peppery hot, and as complex as wines costing 5 times more. Started this with a lasagne meal, excellent, but appreciated it so much more when solo in a big Cab glass after the meal (albeit inserting a couple minimal bites of 78% dark chocolate and salted pistachios). Undecanted, just got better over 4 hours. The finish is medium, 30 seconds, starting strong with chocolates and mocha throughout. More please!
