Classic aged grenache/syrah nose. Black fruits, some earth, leather and a hint of bitter green. Medium bodied taste. good fruit, but just started to get to the drying and baked fruit stage. Quite tasty, but definitely time to drink up.

Very evolved nose of soy sauce, roasted bacon, a hint of prunes, exotic wood... Tannin completely integrated, warm ripe black and red cherries, hint of prunes in the finish.

Fabulous! this is really in a fantastic place right now. Very soft and supple right upon opening and the bottle held up very well through the night. A great example of how long lived these wines can be.

Classic 89, but not in the way Parker means it. All the dry extract and stuffing and babyfat you could shake a stick at, but, as Erin said, couldn't get over the feeling that this must be Barossa Grenache. Sur maturite indeed, to the point of liquoreux -- just the kind of thing that Fat Bob would've awarded EXTRA points for, not docked.
